Shots reportedly fired on the West Side

Charleston Police responded to a call of shots being fired on the West Side early Thursday, said Sgt. Tony Hazelett.

Shots were fired in the area of Rebecca Street and Seventh Avenue around 3 a.m.

Witnesses reported seeing two men and told police the men ran inside a house in the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue.

Antwain Means, 24, of Institute was arrested on charges of public intoxication as he left the house, Hazelett said. Police are conducting an investigation to see whether Means is connected to the shooting. Investigators are also trying to determine the identity of the second man.
