Farmers Market vouchers are available

Farmers market vouchers may be obtained for seniors at various senior centers in Kanawha and Putnam counties.

Eligibility requirements and sites include:

-- Kanawha County:

Only one $20 coupon book per household is allowed. Seniors must be 60 or older and must bring a photo ID. Income eligibility per household must be below: one person, $1,772/month or $21,257 per year; or for two people, $2,392 per month or $28,694 per year. Those who wish to pick up a voucher for a senior must bring their photo I.D., the senior's photo I.D. and a written note granting permission. Vouchers may be picked up for a maximum of three seniors.

Vouchers will be given out between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations, with the exception of the Rand site, which is noon to 4 p.m. July 8: Charleston Area Nutrition Site, Tiskelwah Center, 600 Florida St.

July 9: Capitol Market, outside by the vendors, 800 Smith St.

July 10: Elkview Nutrition Site, Elk River Community Center, 902 Main St.

July 11: Sissonville Nutrition Site, gymnasium by Aldersgate Church, 6823 Sissonville Drive.

July 15: Nitro Nutrition Site, Nitro Community Center, 21st Street and Second Avenue.

July 16: St. Albans Nutrition Site, Hansford Community Center, 500 Washington St.

July 17: Rand Nutrition Site (Noon to 4 p.m.), Rand Community Center, 5701 Church Drive.

July 18: Handley Nutrition Site, Handley Town Hall, 27506 Second Ave.

July 22: Clendenin Nutrition Site, Clendenin Community Center, 101 First Ave.

July 23: South Charleston Nutrition Site, South Charleston Recreation Center, 601 Jefferson Road. July 24: Dunbar Nutrition Site, Dunbar Recreation Center, 2601 Fairlawn Ave.

July 25: Capitol Market, outside vendors, 800 Smith St.

Vouchers will not be given out at the main Kanawha Valley Senior Services office. For more information, call 304-348-0707.

-- Putnam County:

Putnam County seniors may obtain farmers market vouchers beginning July 1 and thereafter every Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), while supplies last at the following senior centers: Buffalo Senior Center, 48 Wrights Lane, Buffalo: 9 a.m. to noon. Phone: 304-937-3352.
