CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Members of the Wehrle family have donated more than $1.5 million to the University of Charleston to help pay for a new sports and fitness center.
The contribution announced Wednesday by the school includes about $1.25 million from H.B. Wehrle III and his wife, Cecelia, and $250,000 from family members and the H.B. Wehrle Foundation.
The sports and fitness center will replace Eddie King Gym, which was built in 1947. It's the last project in a $100 million renovation of the Charleston campus.
