CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association is seeking to freshen up its image by creating a new logo and brand identity, and the association wants your help.
The humane association's marketing and public relations manager, Chelsea Staley, said that she wants to re-brand the animal shelter to increase participation and a sense of community ownership.
"I'd love to see the shelter be a pillar of pride in the community," she said.
The humane association, which runs the shelter, has begun the first step of the re-branding by initiating a public logo contest. Designs must be an original creation, and an ideal design should include some sort of animal or local undertone. A tagline for the logo is not required but is recommended.
Photos are not accepted, and entries can be emailed to kchavolunt...@gmail.com. Entries must be submitted by Aug. 15.
Staley said shelter staff and humane association board members will likely choose a winning design at the board's meeting on Aug. 29.
"Ideally, (the logo) will last over the next decade," she said.
Once a new logo is selected, Staley said she wants to re-paint the lobby of the shelter and overhaul the shelter's website.
"But we can't do that until we know what the logo looks like," she said.
