MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- A Charleston couple is donating $1.25 million to help expand the law school at West Virginia University and to create a new program at the business school.
WVU said Wednesday the gift from H. Bernard and Cecilia Wehrle will create a professorship that will start a supply-chain management program. A foundation run by their four children has kicked in another $250,000.
Bernie Wehrle was CEO of McJunkin Corp. from 1987 through 2006. He then became CEO of MRC Global, where he's now a director.
Business school Dean Zito Sartarelli says it's important that WVU create a curriculum in supply-chain management because of the increasing globalization of markets.
He says the efficient movement of goods through the supply chain to the consumer has evolved, along with customer expectations.
