The PalliativeCare Center invites interested members of the community to attend a free six-week course exploring basic caregiving, available resources for the patient and caregiver, financial issues regarding care, grief and loss, palliative care and hospice care.
The two six-week workshops will be held from:
■ 7-8 p.m Tuesdays, Sept. 10, 17, 24, Oct. 8, 15, and 9 at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church, 5320 Frontier Lane, Cross Lanes, available at 304-776-3081.
■ 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25, Oct. 2, and 9, 2013 at Oakwood Baptist Church, 855 Oakwood Road, Charleston, available at 304-344-2134.
The Palliative Care Center also offers a free two-hour Basic Caregiver Workshop that provides expert tips that make care giving easier and safer, information on planning ahead so you can have control even in a crisis, and specific resources in your community that you can turn to for help. The next workshop will be 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Hospice-Care's Main Office, 1606 Kanawha Blvd, W., Charleston, available at 304-768-8523.
