Man pleads not guilty in downtown shooting
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Shaquille Dominique Burton, 19, of Charleston, pleaded not guilty to charges of malicious wounding and wanton endangerment in Kanawha circuit court Thursday.
Burton turned himself into police after a shooting near Town Center Mall in June that left another teen with a gunshot wound in the arm. The victim, Terrance Bonner, 18, of Charleston, was known to Burton.
Bonner was shot in a vehicle on Clendenin Street between the mall and the Civic Center as he dropped off two passengers.
The defendant is being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled for a trial next month.
