CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Deputies still are looking for others in connection with the attempted kidnapping and murder of a Charleston man.
Investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who accompanied Kelsey Marie Legg, 20, to Lowe's home improvement store in Kanawha City on Sept. 25. The two were seen at the store buying a roll of carpet, according to a statement issued by the Kanawha Sheriff's Department.
Legg, who is being held without bond at South Central Regional Jail, is accused in the attempted kidnapping and murder of Kareem Hunter, 29, of Charleston. She turned herself in at the Charleston Police Department Saturday night.
Hunter had been missing since Sept. 23. There was a disturbance reported at Legg's apartment on 83rd Street in Marmet on the same night.
A search of the apartment revealed that it had been cleaned and recently painted. New carpet also had recently been installed.
Detectives found evidence of a violent crime in the apartment. Large suspected bloodstains were found in various locations inside. Blood spatter stains were found on the ceiling.
Matt Legg, the suspect's brother, told detectives that he heard the altercation in the apartment and later saw two men carrying Hunter's dead body out of the building to the trunk of a vehicle. Authorities have not yet located Hunter's body.
Kanawha sheriff's detectives are working with Charleston police on the investigation.
