The Charleston Regional Spay Neuter Center will hold a community interest at the YMCA.
An informal discussion will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at YMCA of Kanawha Valley.
Plans to build and operate a regional spay and neuter center were announced at a Sept. 26 Kanawha Charleston Humane Association board meeting.
Lisa Mitchell said then that the goal is to have a "high-volume, high quality" spay and neuter clinic to serve Kanawha and its surrounding counties. The center also would hopefully address the cat and dog overpopulation problems.
The facility would provide only sterilization services with some preventative care treatments at a low cost.
The group still is in the beginning stages and searching for a location.
Fundraising efforts have just begun. Mitchell estimates it will cost $450,000 to build, open and operate the clinic.
The discussion will be held in the second floor conference room at the YMCA at 100 YMCA Drive off Hillcrest Drive in Charleston. Those planning to attend can RVSP to i...@charlestonspayneuter.com.
