CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Motorists in Charleston should to be aware of runners, walkers and zombies in city streets this weekend, and several street closures are scheduled to keep the living and the undead safe for HallowEast and FestivALL Fall activities.
Tonight, the FestivALL Fall Ball, a free concert at Haddad Riverfront Park will close Kanawha Boulevard between Capitol and Court streets from 5:30 p.m. until cleanup is finished after the concert. The concert will feature Hybrid Soul and Stratus and is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
On Saturday, numerous street closures will occur throughout the evening in the East End for HallowEast events.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, Elizabeth Street between Washington Street and the railroad tracks will close for preparation of the first "Run Like Hell 5K Run/Walk" later in the evening. Then at 6 p.m., Elizabeth Street between Lee and Washington Streets will also close for the Costume Pub Crawl.
Both sections of Elizabeth Street will remain shut down until the streets are cleaned up after the pub crawl, which ends at 11 p.m. Those attending the University of Charleston football game at Laidley Field should exit the stadium via Piedmont Road.
Also Saturday evening, the annual Zombie Walk will begin at Moxxee Coffee at 6:30 p.m., and will progress along Morris, Quarrier and Elizabeth streets, closing those streets in the areas where the walk will occur.
Then at 7 p.m., the "Run Like Hell 5K Run/Walk" will cause traffic restrictions on Quarrier Street from the 900 through 1500 blocks, and on portions of Dickinson Street, Donnally Street, Capitol Street, Smith Street, Morris Street, Piedmont Road and Elizabeth Street.Except for those on Elizabeth Street, all Saturday road closures should end by 8:30 p.m.
