Deputy was involved in I-64 accident
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County Sheriff's Department police cruiser was among three cars involved in an accident that closed Interstate 64 just outside Charleston on Monday morning.
The accident happened near mile marker 55, around the MacCorkle Avenue exit, in the eastbound lanes about 8:06 a.m. A dispatcher with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said the South Charleston Police Department was still on the scene as of 9:30 a.m.
The interstate reopened after 9 a.m.
The deputy has not been identified at this time. He was transported by ambulance to a Charleston hospital.
