Man allegedly stole beer in his socks
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Police say a Putnam County man walked out of a Winfield convenience store with stolen beer stuffed in his socks.
An employee at Speedway in Winfield called police Friday to report that two men had stolen items from the store.
Officer Derek Milam responded and later found two men matching the description walking south on W.Va. 817 under the Ross Booth Memorial Bridge, according to a news release.
The two were identified as William Brandon Runions, 26, and Andrew Curtis Runions, 25, both of Winfield.
Milam searched the pair and found the stolen goods in their possession. William Runions had three 24-ounce cans of Natty Daddy beer in his possession, according to the release.
He had one can in his hand when Milam approached. Two more cans were found stuffed in his socks.
Andrew Runions had a pack of stolen Marlboro cigarettes.
Both men showed signs of intoxication and were taken to the police department for breath tests. William Runions' blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit while Andrew's was below, the release said.
Both were charged with shoplifting. William Runions also was cited for public intoxication.
