Board suspends Putnam teacher for three days

By From staff reports

Putnam County school board members approved the three-day suspension of a middle school teacher during a regular meeting Monday evening.

The teacher, Jeff Young, will take a three-day leave without pay for violating the employee Code of Conduct and Technology Acceptance Use policy. Board members would not provide further details.

Board members approved the suspension, as well as some other personnel changes, after spending 30 minutes in a closed-door, executive session. Superintendent Chuck Hatfield wouldn't comment further, saying the decision was a personnel matter. The board will next meet at 7 p.m. March 4 at the board offices in Winfield. All meetings are open to the public.
