Winfield police arrested two men accused of breaking into vehicles and using stolen credit cards, but investigators still are looking for a third.

David Fields, 25, of Campbells Creek in Kanawha County was arrested Tuesday by officers investigating a string of vehicle break-ins in Winfield, Chief John Perrine said.

The break-ins occurred earlier this month in the areas of Winfield Avenue, Joshua Way, Cash Lane, Riverdale Estates and West End Estates. Residents reported items had been stolen from their cars that were parked in their driveways or along private roads. The vehicles weren't locked, the chief said.

Perrine said officers began to get tips through their investigation and with the help of coverage by the news media. The tips identified Fields as the ringleader, he said.

Officers spoke with him, and he identified his accomplices as Eric Parsons, 18, of St. Albans and Dennis Lottig, 18, of Jefferson. Perrine said Parsons turned himself in but officers still are looking for Lottig.

The three allegedly used one of the credit cards at the Nitro Walmart and at a Speedway convenience store in Cross Lanes.

Fields and Parsons were charged with conspiracy, breaking and entering auto and larceny. An arrest warrant charging Lottig with those offenses was on file at Putnam Magistrate Court, Perrine said.

Fields was being held at Western Regional Jail on $25,000 bond. Parsons posted a $10,000 bond Tuesday and was released.
