Putnam PSD wins awards for drinking water

The Putnam Public Service District has won three awards for drinking water treatment optimization from the Saint Albans District Office of the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The awards, given in recognition of drinking water quality, include the Gold Level Award for 2012 Surface Water System of the Year, the Gold Level Award for Optimized Water Treatment Plant and the Environmental Protection Agency's Area-Wide Optimization Program.

The EPA award recognizes the facility for its efforts in optimizing filtration at the water plant.

The first two awards recognize the facility for outstanding record of having high water treatment quality combined with few violations and deficiencies, as well as exceeding rigorous standards in the industry. For more information, visit
