Two men arrested in Fraziers Bottom convenience store robbery
A Mason County man and a Putnam County man are behind bars after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Frazier's Bottom.
Peter Alexander Higginbotham, 24, of Leon and Jason Daniel Fields, 33, of Robertsburg were arrested Thursday and charged with armed robbery.
It happened Thursday afternoon at the Go-Mart in Frazier's Bottom. Trooper C.M. Thornton said the two entered the store, one of them appeared to be holding a firearm. They ordered the clerk to open the register and grabbed the cash from the drawer. The clerk was not harmed.
The store manager called 911 after the duo fled in a vehicle. The car was last seen on Hurricane Creek Road but troopers caught up to it on Gibson Branch Road, which is an offshoot of Hurricane Creek.
The two were arrested and told troopers they robbed the store for money to buy drugs, Thornton said. Higginbotham and Fields were being held at Western Regional Jail and would be arraigned Friday in Putnam Magistrate Court.
