Weather-related outages affect area customers

By From staff reports

More than 3,600 Appalachian Power customers were without service Thursday morning with most outages being weather related, said spokesman Phil Moye.

"A fair amount are weather related," Moye said. "We had some high winds and rain."

However, outages were not as bad as initially anticipated and power is not expected to be out for a long period of time, he said.  Counties suffering power outages included Cabell, 981 customers; Fayette, 264; Kanawha 205; Lincoln, 805; Putnam 218; Roane 110; and Wayne, 1,027.
