Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is hosting a free educational workshop to help people understand that Social Security is just part of their overall retirement picture.
Called "Getting More from Social Security," the 50-minute workshop will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 30 Grace Drive, Hurricane, near Wal-Mart.
The workshop is presented by Eric Weimer FIC, CLTC, Financial Associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Hurricane.
Since its inception in the 1930s, Social Security has provided benefits to Americans based on their earnings over the course of their working years. Benefits an individual and his or her family may receive result from those earnings.
Those potential benefits include estimated retirement benefits, disability benefits and family/survivor benefits available through the U. S. Social Security Administration.
"Social Security is the foundation of many Americans' financial security," said Weimer. "This workshop is designed to help people understand their potential benefits under Social Security and consider other actions that may be needed for them to achieve the retirement they desire."
To register for this free workshop, individuals may call Thrivent Financial's local office at 304-747-0893, email Eric.Wei...@thrivent.com, or go to Thrivent.com/findaworkshop. Please register early because space is limited.
