An event to collect school supplies for needy children in Putnam County is set for Friday.
Wal-Mart of Hurricane is partnering with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of United Way of Central West Virginia to organize the "Stuff the Bus" event.
Volunteers will be at the entrance doors of the Hurricane Wal-Mart from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to collect donations. Bins will be available for placement of items, which will be taken to Putnam County's elementary schools.
Needed items include backpacks, No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, glue, glue sticks, pocket folders, spiral notebooks, pens, three-ring binders (1-inch, 1.5-inch and 2-inch), crayons (boxes of 16), erasers, book covers, index cards, pencil sharpener, safety scissors, markers, highlighters, dividers, rulers, antibacterial hand sanitizer and tissues.
