A pursuit through two counties led to the arrest of a Jackson County man early Friday.
Deputy J.L. Miller was on road patrol in Sissonville when he attempted to stop a vehicle with no taillights, said Cpl. B.D. Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office. The driver did not stop and police pursued the vehicle from Sissonville to Putnam County.
The driver, Jared Keith Garnes, 26, of Liberty, eventually stopped due to damaged tires, he said. He was arrested in Putnam County and charged with fleeing while driving under the influence, a felony. He was taken to Western Regional Jail.During the course of the pursuit, a Putnam County deputy was involved in a crash and sustained minor injuries.
