Putnam teacher aide charged in student sex assaults
HURRICANE, W.Va. -- A special education teacher's aide at Hurricane High School is charged with sexually assaulting at least two former students.
Fifty-nine-year-old David Gibson of Hurricane was in the Western Regional Jail on $100,000 bond Wednesday, facing four counts of second-degree sexual assault.
State Police Cpl. R.A. Phillips says one victim who is now 21 has the mindset of a 13-year-old. Phillips says she gave investigators a photo shot in Gibson's house, showing the faces of her classmates taped over the naked bodies of other people.
Phillips says Gibson admitted having sex with that victim and another who was a 16-year-old Hurricane High student in 1996. Troopers also found child pornography in Gibson's home.
It's unclear whether Gibson has a lawyer.
