Two arrests have been made and authorities are looking for a third suspect in connection to a kidnapping in Poca over the weekend, said Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese.
Deputies responded to a call in the 300 block of Silver Street in Poca regarding domestic violence and possible kidnapping, he said. A woman said a neighbor's child walked to her mobile home with a note stating her family was being held captive and to call police.
According to a victim's statements two black males and one white female came to her residence at 8 p.m. Saturday looking for narcotics. She said the suspects interrogated her and physically battered a male victim until deputies arrived 11:30 a.m. Sunday. She said they were not allowed to leave the residence and were kept in separate rooms of the trailer. The victims said the suspects threatened to bring people to the mobile home to kill them if they did not get the drugs or money.
Kwame W. Bates, 32, of Martinsburg, was charged with kidnapping, assault and battery, child endangerment, and possession of marijuana and Opana. He is lodged in Western Regional Jail with bond set at $550,000.
Bobbie S. Johns, 28, of Charleston, was charged with kidnapping and child endangerment. She is lodged in Western Regional Jail with bond set at $500,000.Warrants have been obtained for Roosevelt McDuffie, of Hurricane, who fled on foot and has yet to be located.
