Power goes out for thousands in Putnam County
WINFIELD, W.Va. -- Power went out for more than 3,500 Appalachian Power customers in Putnam County this morning.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., 3,592 customers were affected by the outage, according to Appalachian Power's website.
The outage was reportedly caused by a transformer problem.
Some customers in other counties remained without power because of strong wind gusts earlier this week.
Apco reported 122 customers without power in Kanawha County, 117 in Putnam County and 541 in Raleigh County.
There was still a major outage in Greenbrier County, where 2,319 customers remained without power.
