"Building a pad that will survive the times," an informational session on how to prepare your family for lack of funds, and "Wielding Katana: A Pentesters Portable Pal" will both be going on as part of Sunday's schedule. Hack3rCon will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Free workshops will also be provided. "Network Monitoring and Analysis," "Bash 101 for Pentesters," "Key Impressioning," and "Intro to Exploit Development" will all be included at no expense.
Hack3rCon is not just work and no play; contests will be held and prizes can be won. "Capture the Flag" and "Key Impressioning" will be played Friday and Saturday.
"Capture the Flag" may be played individually or with teams. The "Key Impressioning" contest is to see who can open a lock with the use of a key blank.
Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment, or it is provided. Brian Martin will be teaching the basics of key impressioning.
There is also something for those interested in sponsoring Hack3rCon. Packages starting at $500 and going up to $3,000 are available for those who wish to have their company added to all the cyber action.
Hack3rCon hopes to get the Charleston community involved with cyber security information. The convention provides an engaging and supportive environment for participants.
Hack3rCon takes place the same weekend as CharCon, a gaming and role-playing convention that occurs in Charleston annually. CharCon will be at the Charleston Town Center today through Sunday.
