Detectives have a person of interest in a shooting that occurred in a West Dunbar apartment.
It happened around 11:47 a.m. Thursday on Smoot Avenue in West Dunbar. A man was shot multiple times inside an apartment after an argument, said Capt. Sean Crosier, a spokesman for the Kanawha Sheriff's Office.
Crosier said the basis of the argument is unknown details surrounding the shooting remain "very sketchy."
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was shot multiple times and was "gravely wounded," Capt. Bryan Robbins said. He was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Robbins said the victim was in stable condition following the procedure.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a hoodie with hair styled in dreadlocks. He fled the area on foot.Robbins said deputies located a man on nearby Smith Street that closely matched the description of the suspect. He was taken into custody and was being questioned by detectives with the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation Thursday afternoon.
