A lockdown of Cedar Grove Elementary and Middle schools was lifted about 3 p.m. Tuesday, after reports that an individual was seen walking along railroad tracks near the schools carrying a rifle.
A Kanawha Sheriff's deputy is on the scene. Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers said man was firing a rifle from the train tracks located about 150 yards from the schools.
The man was not firing the gun at the school, dispatchers said.
Missy Ruddle, assistant superintendent for middle schools, said the lockdown was a precautionary measure.Keep checking www.dailymail.com for further updates.
