Pat Fisher, Kanawha County registrar, left, and County Clerk Vera McCormick sift through the boxes of ballot statements Tuesday morning during a canvass of Saturday's special primary election for U.S. Senate. The board of canvassers received 210 provisional ballots, most of which were filed by poll workers, McCormick said.
The certification of the election will occur at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Kanawha County Commission Courtroom.
Ballets must be kept for 22 months after an election before they can be destroyed. Unused ballets must also be stored for the same length of time. Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper and County Clerk Vera McCormick explain the process.
