CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- U.S. Sen. Carte Goodwin, D-W.Va., and wife Rochelle, "Rocky," had their second child this week, a baby girl.
Anna Vail Goodwin was born Aug. 10.
"Baby is here; mother and daughter are doing great and looking forward to getting home," a spokeswoman for the senator said.
The Charleston couple also has a son, Wes, who is nearly 5 years old.
"Vail" is a family name on the senator's father's side. That line produced furniture and coffin makers.
There is still the Vail Furniture store in downtown Ripley, which was begun in 1844 by Isaiah Vail, a carpenter.
The store was part furniture store, part funeral home, according to a 2005 story by WOWK-TV. The businesses split in the 1960s.
The funeral home was later sold and is now known as Waybright Funeral Home.
Goodwin, 36, is the youngest senator in the current senate and the second senator to have a child this year.
