PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Alderson-Broaddus College is expanding on-campus student housing to accommodate rising enrollment.
The private college in Philippi plans to build a residential village that will house about 400 students.
Media outlets say college officials broke ground for the project Saturday.
Dean of Student Affairs Sarah Ward says Alderson-Broaddus' out-of-state student population has grown by 60 percent.
The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2013.
