Photos: Autumn leaves its colors around Mountain State

Trees throughout the Mountain State have burst into their autumn splendor and a road trip is the best way to enjoy the fleeting beauty.

Fall foliage is at its peak in much of the state, though trees are still just beginning to change to red, orange and purple in the Kanawha Valley.

Leaf-peeper hot spots like Spruce Knob and other high elevations like Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls State Park have already reached their peak colors.

Southern West Virginia typically experiences the best fall colors in late October.

We encourage our readers to take a road tour of the state's scenery and to send your best pictures to readerphotos@dailymail.com. Photos will be used in a photo gallery, and some will be used in future print editions.
