CHARLESTON, W.Va. — About 4,642 pounds of unwanted or expired prescription drugs have been collected at more than 100 sites throughout West Virginia.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin and John Ryan of the Drug Enforcement Agency announced results of last weekend's Prescription Drug Take-Back event Tuesday.
Saturday's haul surpassed the previous Take-Back record 4,572 pounds collected in April 2012. Goodwin calls it another milestone in the fight against prescription drug abuse.
Nationwide, more than 5,100 sites participated in Take-Back events.
