WVU taps Sartarelli to be 1st chief global officer
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University has a new position aimed at coordinating all international activities in teaching, research and service.
Business school Dean Jose "Zito" Sartarelli will fill the role of chief global officer while continuing in his current post.
WVU says he will work with an advisory board to implement recommendations from the Global Engagement Round Table, a campus-wide project.
WVU plans to improve recruitment of international students, promote study-abroad programs and get more involved in global research and economic development.
Sartarelli is a Brazilian native who came to WVU in 2010 from a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
He'll assume his new duties July 1.
