Acting DHHR chief gets job hunt exemption

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The acting head of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources can continue to look for a job in the private sector.

Acting DHHR Secretary Rocco Fucillo was among nine state employees granted the necessary exemption from the West Virginia Ethics Commission. The commission considered the requests Thursday.

Ethics Commission Executive Director Joan Parker tells The Charleston Gazette ( ) that she granted all nine employees temporary, 45-day exemptions. This allows them to begin pursuing employment with a business or company that's regulated by their agencies or has contracts with their agencies.

In May, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin appointed Karen Bowling as DHHR secretary, effective July 1. Fuccillo has served as acting secretary since 2010.
