MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say a pilot suffered minor cuts after his helicopter lost power and had to make a forced landing near Morgantown.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the Hughes helicopter with one person on board failed to clear some treetops while attempting to take off at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
State Police Cpl. R.M. Gaskins in Morgantown says the pilot was trying to leave from a private business to do some spraying around power lines.
Gaskins says the helicopter was heavily damaged, but the pilot was able to walk away and refused medical treatment.The FAA is investigating.
