Late professor leaves WVU sports school $3.4M
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The estate of a former West Virginia University department head is giving $3.4 million to the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.
It's the largest donation in the college's history.
The gift from the late Patricia Fehl will support both scholarships for undergraduates and the college's new building, set to open in fall 2014.
Dean Dana Brooks calls it an extraordinary gift. It also creates an endowed professorship and an academic enhancement endowment.
The donation also supports a health and wellness fund.
Fehl died last summer. She was department chair of general physical education from 1973-89.
She was inducted into the CPS Hall of Fame in 1990.
