2 W.Va. colleges sign transfer agreement

MOUNT GAY, W.Va. (AP) - Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College students who complete an associate's degree can now more easily enter bachelor's degree programs at the University of Charleston.

Officials from the two schools signed a transfer agreement Wednesday. It will enable Southern students to minimize credit losses and earn bachelor's degrees in two years at the University of Charleston.

In many cases, the agreement also will allow transfer students to move directly into one of UC's graduate programs.

Southern students who serve in the West Virginia National Guard will be eligible for a UC scholarship providing up to $9,000 per year in tuition assistance. The state already provides a $6,500 educational stipend to National Guard members.
