HINTON, W.Va. -- A Hinton landmark that was destroyed by a fire is being demolished.
Media outlets report that crews on Monday removed rubble from the site where a block of apartment buildings known as Brick Row used to stand. One building that remains is scheduled to be demolished later this week.
Hinton resident Art Drysdale says he'd like to see the community come together and do something with the site, such as create a community garden.
Resident Brian Lilly says a park or playground would be good uses for the now-vacant property.
Police had charged Billy Joe Gill of Hinton with setting the fire but the charge was later dropped. Gill pleaded guilty to setting a separate fire at a house and is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 9.
