HINTON, W.Va. -- Hinton officials are planning to offer city-operated day care to residents.
The day care center will fill a void left by the closure of the city's only private provider.
Mayor Joe Blankenship tells The Register-Herald (http://bit.ly/19PWSbK) that the center will not only benefit the community but also allow the city to utilize empty space in the Hinton Technology Center.
He says the day care center also will contribute to the city's economic growth. Quality child care options for workers are a drawing point for company officials who are looking for a place to open businesses.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is reviewing the city's plans for the center. The center is expected to open later this year.
