Shutdown won't affect WV livestock reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Department of Agriculture says the federal government shutdown won't affect the availability of the state's livestock sales prices.

The department usually posts a link on its website to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's national report. The department says it will now post its own up-to-date report on West Virginia sales.

Agriculture Commissioner Walt Helmick says the department wants to make sure that livestock producers have uninterrupted access to the sales information.
