WILLIAMSON, W.Va. -- Appalachian Regional Healthcare is acquiring Williamson Memorial Hospital.
The nonprofit health system says it's signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 76-bed acute care hospital from a subsidiary of Health Management Associates. The acquisition is expected to be completed in February 2014.
Appalachian spokeswoman Melissa Cornett tells the Williamson Daily News (http://bit.ly/1ffpket ) that details of the deal will be released later.
Appalachian serves 350,000 residents in eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia.
