Raises coming for West Virginia State University faculty, other staff

INSTITUTE, W.Va. (AP) - Wes Virginia State University President Brian Hemphill says all full-time faculty and non-classified staff will receive 2 percent salary increases in 2014.

The Charleston Gazette ( ) reports that Hemphill delivered the news Friday during his state of the university address.

Besides the across-the-board 2 percent raises, 65 percent of full-time faculty will receive an additional 2 percent merit raise.

Hemphill also announced the debut of the Promoting Excellence in Education through Research program. It will provide $500,000 over the course of the next five years for faculty's research agendas.
