Woman's body found in W.Va. hotel, man charged
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A Charles Town man has been charged in the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found in a Jefferson County hotel room.
Media outlets report a hotel worker found the woman's body under a bed Thursday morning. Jefferson County sheriff's investigators say the man later turned himself in to police in Ranson.
Names of the victim and the suspect were being withheld pending notification of the woman's relatives.
Police say the suspect indicated he checked into the hotel Sunday to spend time with the woman before he was to start serving a 90-day jail sentence, and the two were involved in an altercation that evening.
The suspect was arraigned in Jefferson County Magistrate Court on a second-degree murder charge. He was held without bond in the Eastern Regional Jail.
