CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Temperatures were quickly plummeting this morning, while wind gusts picked up.
School systems in Jackson, Clay, Roane counties and others were closing because of the weather.
The National Weather Service advised, "Be prepared for strong gusty winds from west/northwest this morning. Gusts to around 50 mph can occur. Temps to take a plunge."
A wind chill advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. today until 1 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day from 5 above to 10 below zero overnight.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected.
