I was pleased to read the article about OnSite Digital Radiology Services on Sept. 11, 2012. This will indeed be a significant improvement of mobile X-ray services in the state.
As the owner of a mobile X-ray service in the Northern Panhandle, where two mobile X-ray businesses currently operate, I can attest to the benefits of competition in this area of health care.
If we fail to meet the needs of our customers, they will look elsewhere for the mobile X-ray services they desire. This has not been possible for nursing homes and home health agencies in the 50 most southern counties in West Virginia until the certificate of need was granted to OnSite Digital Radiology Services on Aug. 15.
Advances in the field of radiology have been numerous in the past few years, and I commend the owner of OnSite Digital Radiology Services for his desire to outfit his mobile X-ray business with the latest technology.
As I see it, there are many winners with the startup of an additional mobile X-ray provider - nursing home residents, homebound people, and the state of West Virginia, to name a few.
