As a physician in the state of West Virginia for the past 17 years, I was pleased to read the article about OnSite Digital Radiology Services "OnSite" on Sept. 11.
I have known Richard Pulcrano, president and CEO of OnSite, for over 30 years, and I was excited when he started the first mobile x-ray company in West Virginia back in 1986.
Richard was named "West Virginia Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 1988" for his vision of providing mobile diagnostic medical services for the geriatric communities.
This business brought a dramatic change in how geriatric residents received diagnostic care at bedside, and it eliminated the financial hardship and emotional trauma of being transferred by ambulance to a local hospital or clinic.
Richard was a pioneer in 1986 with the introduction of the first mobile X-ray service in the state of West Virginia. Now in 2012, with Certificate of Need approval for mobile digital radiography services, Richard has again pioneered the first mobile digital radiology service in the state.
This advancement in technology will provide a significant improvement in image quality, diagnostic reporting by the radiologist, and overall efficiency of the service.
The geriatric residents, geriatric providers, physicians, and the state of West Virginia ultimately benefit now by having a choice of statewide mobile X-ray providers, with the introduction of OnSite Digital Radiology Services.
