By passing an extension of the production tax credit, Congress saved thousands of construction and manufacturing jobs that have developed as a result of the new wind industry supply chain.
In West Virginia, the wind industry already supports up to 500 jobs and there are projects in queue that are set to double the state's wind production output. If the credit were not extended, those jobs would have been at risk - hardly a wise decision in a time of economic uncertainty.
The tax credit has been a policy success. I applaud Congress for continuing to help the wind industry grow to its potential.
