There are no words that can adequately describe the pain and anguish the families and friends of the victims in the horrific shooting recently are feeling. Every angle of this tragedy will be examined and reexamined.
There will be debates on gun control, school security, mental illness, and even the role that violent video games and movies may have played in this nightmare scenario.
Whatever outcome these debates and investigations produce, one thing is certain: The destinies of these 20 children were cut short.
What could they have accomplished if they had had a chance to live out a full life?
Would one of them have grown up and discovered the cure for cancer? Or maybe one would have negotiated lasting peace in the Middle East?
We will never know.
The sad truth is that every day, thousands of little boys and girls across this nation are having their destinies cut short. Not by crazed gunman, but by medical personnel in abortion clinics. In America, over 50 million destinies have been lost in the last 40 years.
I believe every child whose life is cut short breaks the heart of God. Whether in the womb or out of the womb, each child is a precious gift from God.
As we work to make the world safer for children, it is my prayer that one day the womb will once again be a safe place as well.
