Deer are doing a lot of damage in suburban areas. They no longer have enough food in the mountains due to less farming and timbering.
Add predators to the mix and deer are mostly living near suburban areas where they have more food and feel more protected.
This is causing far too many deer to be hit by vehicles. Many of these areas do not allow firearms for hunting purposes. This is why crossbows need to be legalized.
How many people want their vehicle insurance to go higher? Our state has a major problem due to deer hitting vehicles. Do we want that to continue?
It seems the Department of Natural Resources does not want to legalize crossbows.
Politicians like House Speaker Rick Thompson, D-Wayne, keep allowing crossbow bills to go dead in committees and won't bring it to the floor for a vote.
Most of the states around us have legalized crossbows for everyone, so why can't we?
Legalizing crossbows would bring millions of dollars back into the state economy. Many livestock and tree farmers would be glad to see crossbows legalized due to damages.
