What would Einstein think if he knew Don Surber was repeating hearsay from U.K. tabloid reporter David Rose regarding the opinion of climatologist Ed Hawkins - as appears to be the case?
Climatologist Ed Hawkin's "direct testimony" is that climate models have been quite accurate - per Hawkin's posts at the U.K.'s National Center for Atmospheric Science.
Surber cites physicists and warming-skeptics Ivar Giaever and Freeman Dyson. Neither Giaever nor Dyson has published peer-reviewed scientific research on climate change for decades, and Dyson is employed by the Heartland Institute, a Koch-funded climate disinformation organ.
Judith Curry, also cited, was an investigator for the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature study co-funded by the Koch Foundation. You may recall that BEST's principle author, Robert Muller, concluded global warming was real, and almost entirely the result of human activity.
Petro-propaganda concerns aside, incomplete knowledge isn't an excuse for inaction on climate.
As Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research."
Our society is evolving away from traditional fuel sources, per investment bank CitiGroup's recent 88-page report, "Shale & renewables: a symbiotic relationship."
Hopefully this will happen in time to beat the climatic "tipping point" - but you're not helping, Don.
