Mountaineer fans must show class
As executive director of the Mountaineer Maniacs, I know first-hand how important it is to create an exciting and intimidating atmosphere at our sporting events. Supporting our teams and making our home athletic venues a fun place is part of the college experience.
I also know how important it is to represent our school with class. We made great strides last year in welcoming new Big 12 teams to our great campus, and we must build on that in year two. Mountaineer Nation received great reviews from first-time visitors last year on our hospitality and friendly spirit.
New teams and fans from William & Mary, Georgia State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas and Iowa State will be coming to Morgantown, and we once again need to welcome them with our Mountaineer hospitality.
Let's continue to show our guests what we already know — Morgantown is a great college town and the state of West Virginia has some of the friendliest people that you will ever want to meet.
Last year was a success, but we must remember that it is not a one-time thing. I am asking Mountaineer Nation to respond again this year and every year. Let's continue to welcome guests to our state and our campus while showing our athletic teams the support that they deserve.
I know visiting fans had positive experiences during their visit to Morgantown last year and that benefits us all. Making guests feel welcomed is the West Virginia way of life.
Remember, we only have one chance to make a good first impression.
